Orlando, July 27, 2024 AHVED Back-to-School Event Recap

The AHVED Back-to-School event held on July 27, 2024, in Orlando was a resounding success, bringing together families and individuals from across the community for a day of support, connection, and preparation for the upcoming school year.

We were delighted to welcome a total of 68 participants, adults and children, to this year’s event. It was a day filled with excitement, as 25 families joined us to prepare for the new school year.

Backpack and School Supplies Distribution

One of the highlights of the day was our backpack and school supplies giveaway, ensuring that our young attendees are set up for success as they head back to school. We were able to distribute supplies to:

  • 3 Toddlers/Kids

  • 16 Teen Boys

  • 27 Teen Girls

Each child left with a backpack filled with essentials, from notebooks and pens to folders and calculators, tailored to their age group and school needs.

Adult Attendance

The event wasn’t just for the kids. We were pleased to see a strong turnout from the adults in our community:

  • 19 Adults with Children: These parents and guardians took the opportunity to gather resources, connect with other families, and prepare their children for the school year ahead.

  • 6 Adults without Children: Their participation underscores the community spirit of the event, showing support for the families and the broader community.

Food Giveaway

In addition to school supplies, we also provided a food giveaway, helping 66 participants stock up on groceries. This aspect of the event was vital in supporting families not just with school preparation but also in easing the burden of food insecurity.

AHVED’s back-to-school event was more than just a day of giveaways; it was a celebration of community and a reminder of the strength we have when we come together. We are extremely grateful to everyone who participated, volunteered and supported this event. We look forward to continuing our efforts to support Orlando families and children throughout the year.

Happy upcoming school year for all our young students!
